Profile 2.0. We've added over 90 new themes choices for profile 2.0. More are on the way. The apps bug is fixed. Previewing your profile now shows the actual way your profile looks and mousing over each section lets you change it. Profile 2.0 also now has an Activities module which lets you display your friend updates on your page. When a friend comes to your 2.0 profile page, he'll be able to see all the things you've done on Social Virb recently (uploading photos, videos, etc.) Remember ths is optional, and, as always, you can control what information is published out to your friends via the friend updates preferences page.

Full Name. Finding your friends on Social Virb can be hard when they change their display name all the time. When you're using "compose" on mail, or trying to filter your status & mood history by a specific user, and you start typing in "John" what happens if John changed his display name to "SuperMan 2.0". Because of this confusion, we've added the "show full name" feature. This has been out for several months, but its starting to show up all around the site. Showing your full name makes it easy for your friends to find and search for you, but allows you to change your display name when you feel like it. Check me out in your friends list, or to the left on this blog post -- you can see how it says "Automator" above my picture and "Automator" below my picture. I can change my display name to "SocialVirb" but my real name will still be there so people won't have trouble finding me in Social Virb features that require you to know your friends name.

Less Steps, Easier to Use. We've been systematically changing the way features work around the site. You can now comment somebody in one step, rather than going to a new page, previewing, posting, getting a post confirmation page, then a clicking back to the object you posted on. We've added this to blogs and photos and video comments. It's coming for profiles. Inviting people to events got easier several weeks ago. Posting bulletins got easier today. Adding friends and sending messages is getting streamlined as well. Less steps means it's faster for you and easier to communicate. Plus you see less advertisements.
Social Virb gets easier with fullnames

You know how you can change your display name or default picture? You know how you have some friends who change it everyday or 10 times a day? You kno...

You know how you can change your display name or default picture? You know how you have some friends who change it everyday or 10 times a day? You know how you can never find or identify them beacuse they change it all the time?! Well that's the thinking behind the "display my full name" on Social Virb.

You're now able to show your full name on Social Virb under your picture, while your display name is still used for profile URL. It's that simple.

The idea is that your full/real name should never change, even if you decide to give yourself a new nickname for a few months (or an afternoon). This makes it easier to find your friends in search, or in any of the places where you can type in your friends name to do something:

Tagging them in a photo
Finding them on your friends list
Inviting them to an event
Composing a mesage
On the status history page when you just want to show ONE person's status history

We have some rules around this. If you're going to display your full name, it must be your real name. This to avoid confusion, and to make sure the purpose of the feature isn't ruined by people putting goofy stuff in there.

Finally, just to let you know, we'll be adding this in more places--you'll just be able to type in a friends name to find them in other areas where it makes sense. Instead of searching a list of friends, you'll be able to type in a friends name to create a preferred list for a blog, to put someone in a friend category, or to select your top friends, etc.

Okay guys,

Yesterday some of you may have noticed a new feature that we are toying with on Friendsta in which users will be granted points for doing certain activities on the site. With the points that users earn, you will be able to promote yourself, an event, a group etc... to ensure maxium exposure. In addition to this it will help the staff of the site see whom are the active users, and whom arent. More will be coming on this application within the next few days once I have tidied it all up. Please post any comments in regards to this application.

Thanks Paul
